Why in the world would you fire Chud if you had no plan and you knew the consequences of firing a coach after one year???? You can’t fire a coach and show total lack of patience and stability. Who would want to work for some company that fires their manager if you knew, you could be next? I understand they realized Chud wasn’t the answer but now to the NFL world and the media, the Browns front office look like a joke or as it goes now.. stooges. I love this team but the handling of Chud is an embarrassment.
The brown’s excuse of our backgrounds are of stability and consistency. That is not even a valid excuse. Joe banner was with the Eagles and got lucky with the Andy Reid hire but how much did he really have to do with it? did he choose Andy? probably not, he was on the business side and he probably negotiated the contract. I very highly doubt he chose the coach. Then there is Jimmy Haslam and he says his background of stability went to the Steelers only having 2 coaches as he was MINORITY owner. This also can be read as he had nothing to do with the Steelers winning ways and choosing of two very highly successful coaches. As a brown’s fan, I see two guys with good intentions but bad results since they came to Cleveland.
Banner and Haslam result’s have been normal Browns status quo. They need to change the culture of this team but have failed in epic ways so far. They hired Mike Lombardi which was working in the media and out of the business for years and when we was working, his draft record was spotty at best. I would of hired Ray Farmer as the GM and have Lombardi work some where in personnel and get his feet wet again. Banner believes so highly in Lombardi, they hide him and never have him speak to the press or public. This Gm is a joke and now we are about to lose Farmer to the Dolphins and this would be a huge mistake. We don’t know what players we have on this team which Farmer recommended or didn’t recommend but he is a highly touted personnel guy that the Chiefs didn’t want to lose and now the Dolphins have him as the reportedly frontrunner for their GM opening. Another bad result was their seeing a huge tree instead of the big picture. They supposedly debated the merit of firing the coach after one year and decided it was the best way to win.. how about trying to give the coach the players to win now instead of telling them building for 2014 and then firing him for losing now.. wtf!!! give the coach the players and support he needs to win now if he will be fired for not winning. You were down to a Running back that was on the practice squad of the Texans until the last few games, an over the hill running back with no burst anymore, and Obi which is an ok player but playing fullback when he is no where close to a fullback… The Browns have 1 great receiver and that is about it. Bess was a disappointment signing but maybe his family issues created a bad year and he can get a mulligan, and Greg Little which in his 3rd season and is still very inconsistent but maybe still an average WR at best. The TE position has a up and coming star in Cameron Jordan and then nothing.. The quarterback has very few weapons and yet the front office wanted to win now, so find the team a better qb than Campbell and weapons to work with. Then maybe tell the coach he should of won. The blame for this season could be injuries or the inept front office that gave the coaches jack shit to help the team. These results are not acceptable to Cleveland and if they don’t get it right this time, this might hurt the Browns in the long run with the fans.
The time has come to discuss the mess called searching for a coach. I listened and watched the press conference to fire Chud very carefully. They stated that they wouldn’t consider any coach from last years interviews and they wanted a experienced winning coach. so who are they chasing….??? Wisenhunt who was last years runner-up and no named no experienced assistant coaches. why does this concern me? maybe because they are so desperate they are going back on their wants. They had no clear plan on who they wanted to coach the Browns. I would be scared if their first choice is the OC for Denver. Adam gase is like in his first or 2nd year as a OC and his qb is Peyton manning. Peyton would make any coach look like a genius. he is an amazing future HOF player and basically coaches the offense. You and I could coach the offense for Denver and get easy paychecks because Peyton is there. I sort of want that gig. You can make millions to sit back and tell Peyton to choose good plays and make nice throws.. Mission accomplished.. don’t get in peyton’s way. He has never been a head coach and is a very new coordinator and now he is their first choice and he may even decide he doesn’t want to interview for this job because of this great FO team we have here. We have interviewed nobody that has the fans excited and Mcdaniels was front runner but nobody wanted a Belicheck clone which destroyed Denver when he coached there. He drafted Tebow to be his qb.. enough said on that mistake…lol He has pulled his name out of consideration because browns wouldn’t name him the leading candidate. Was he afraid to not being the coach and didn’t want to lose to an unnamed coach that he sees as inferior to him? This coaching search is going to result in a familiar smell and taste, aka a chud and Shurmur type of coach and hope it turns out better than expected. We know that this coach will last more than a year because there is no way in hell that Haslam and Banner would make the same mistake next year and fire the coach again, or we will be hiring a University of Phoenix online school graduate that their only experience in winning football is Madden 25 on video game consoles.. how would that look in the eyes of the NFL world.. I hope our team doesn’t become a bigger joke but if they screw up this mess even more, the Browns might as well officially name themselves the Clowns.
